Kentledge
There are many situations in Static Pile Load Testing where the use of deadweight as a reaction system is appropriate.
Where bored, cast-in-situ piles are used, but where anchor piles cannot be installed, the use of a kentledge reaction system provides a simple solution.
For driven piles, where insufficient friction capacity may be available to allow the use of tension piles, the kentledge system is commonly used.
Zone Pad Testing, following ground improvement works, can involve high loads and the use of a kentledge stack is required. This is often supported on a special grillage to allow multiple jacking points and long outrigger supports may be used to clear the pad.
Load Testing of bridges, structures and other types of foundation are some of the other engineering problems for which kentledge can provide a solution.
PMC has various complete kentledge systems ranging up to 400 Tonnes capacity in standard form and over 1000 Tonnes to order. PMC stocks 2.2 Tonne and 6 Tonne kentledge blocks which are accurately formed from reinforced concrete, with built-in recessed lifting points. The PMC kentledge systems are purpose-designed, simple to build and versatile.
Providing all components from stock allows the company to offer a full package of design, supply, erect, test, strip and demobilise. All the kentledge systems are designed to allow easy interfacing with PMC's range of jacking and testing equipment.
